I have it put on the side and it projects wonderfully. My kids are in awe of it. Not too bright and not too dim. You can change the speed of its projection as it rotates and you can change the brightness level of it. I have not yet used batteries, but I have it plugged in to our Xbox. The funny thing is that I did not realize it’s a 2-in-1 when I bought it. I thought it was broken but then realized if you keep the lid on, it’s a night light. Lid off, it projects out.
