My daughter loved it as soon as the package was open. She slept with it that same night and said it was great. My other daughter immediately said she wanted to try sleeping with one as well. My 10 year old does want to try a heavier weight where as my 13 year old likes the 7lb so despite there being weight guidelines by age I think the individual opinions of the child should be taken into account.

My daughter absolutely loves this. She experienced a weighted blanket at the dentist to help with nervousness. I bought one suggested weight by age. A little heavier than expected but she carries it to whatever room she’s in now in case she needs it. Very calming for her. Texture and softness is perfect with the minky design.

Fun fact: The box this blanket comes in is almost the exact same size as a PS5 box. So if you happen to have a kiddo who’s been begging to get a PS5 for a gift, and he opens this blanket first and is so sad because he thought it was a PS5, and then opens the PS5 afterwards, … well there might just be tears of joy.It’s an excellent blanket, too. 🙂

Very calming for my anxious 6 year old but warm and cuddly for my 5 year old.
*** Update: My second daughter loved her sister’s weighted blanket so much we bought another one. The kids sleep soundly with these. Very soft and comfortable. Washing isn’t difficult, but takes some thought and effort to do it correctly to get everything back in place. My second daughter does not have sleep issues but loves this for the warmth.We gave this to our 6 year old daughter who has anxiety issues and wakes up at least 1-2 times a night. When she opened this on her birthday she loved the bright pink color and the soft minky feel. Once she covered up with the blanket she immediately relaxed (even after a long night of presents and cake) and nearly fell asleep in her chair. She slept through the night that night and the following couple nights. Now about a week later, she still sleeps better with this weighted blanket than without it but she will wake up if it slides off in the night from turning.The minky is really soft and the 5 pound weight seems just right for her (about 40 pounds). It is heavy for her to carry down the hall but adults will have no problem moving it. I haven’t washed it yet and am a bit nervous about that since the instructions are very explicit but overall we are really happy with her “heavy blanket.” This product was recommended to us from a friend who is an occupational therapist. So glad we splurged on this blanket!
