Pretty good cordless electric nail file
I ordered this WEIHUINET Electric Nail File set for two main purposes: first, to use on myself to easily and quickly file my finger and toe nails; and second, to help file down the claws of our cat Ralph, who is very resistant to handling his “murder mitts”, and especially when it involves any kind of claw trimming. The kit comes complete with the motorized file handle, which is powered by a pair of AA batteries (not included), six abrasive filing disks (it looks like only five in the product ad, but there is an extra pink disk (intended for babies 0-3 months of age), and one abrasive grinding rod which uses the edge of the tool, not the surface like the disks). The motorized handle contains a built in LED light which isn’t exactly super-bright, but it helps to see what you’re doing in subdued lighting conditions. There is a removable clear plastic shield which friction-fits over the front portion of the file, exposing roughly half the surface area of the abrasive disk. The abrasive disks, by the way, seem to consist of round pieces of emery paper glued to the top of the plastic disks. I found this a bit disappointing at first because I originally thought that they were actual abrasive stones. But then I thought about it and maybe the paper is better anyway, as there is the potential for removing the old paper and replacing it with round pieces cut out of an emery cloth or paper when the originals wear out; or if it’s desired to replace them with different grits of abrasive. The latter can be very useful since most of the disks are geared to babies and children, so replacement of the stock grits with ones more appropriate for adults could be good. The clear plastic shield is a bit hard to remove at first. I tried to pry it up with a knife blade, but it felt like it would break (the shield, not the knife). But then I just gave the shield a firm grasp and pulled it straight up and it came off without too much trouble. The handles motor has two speeds in both forward and reverse rotation directions. Not sure why two directions are needed, but there may be a good reason. I will say that the motor doesn’t have much torque. It begins to slow and stall with even moderate pressure on the nails. This can be overcome by using a very light touch (probably a good idea when using on babies/toddlers anyway) but it makes the filing move along much slower than it would if more pressure could be used. The whole outfit comes in a nice hard plastic storage case that accommodates the handle and all the grinding disks, as well as the user’s manual. The manual can be stored UNDER the inner tray that holds the parts in order to keep it conveniently out of the way.So what’s my verdict regarding this file set? Well, I personally like it, and will be using it for my nail filing when I’m not in too much of a hurry. Ralph’s opinion is the opposite. Although the machine is very quiet, he still doesn’t tolerate such contact with his paws. Oh well, one out of two ain’t too bad!

Doesn’t have the torque or abrasive strength needed for typical adult nails
I got the WEIHUINET Electric Nail File hoping it would be easier than a clipper for my toenails, but it simply doesn’t have the power or grit for that job. Even using the “adult” grinding head, it takes far too long to make progress. For average adult nails, this is a 2‑star product. The built‑in LED isn’t very bright, but it’s helpful in low light. For babies and young kids, though, it’s likely a different story. The gentle filing, soft‑stop safety feature, and protective plastic shield make easy to use and safe for tiny delicate fingers. The included pads cover multiple grit levels, including a newborn disk. For infant nail care, it’s a 4‑star tool.I split the difference & rated it 3 stars overall. I wouldn’t have downgraded if the listing didn’t specifically call out adult use.Overall: excellent for little ones, not practical for most adults.

Pleasantly surprised
I wasn’t holding out a whole lot of hope because this is AA battery powered and not rechargeable. I haven’t had a whole lot of luck with items like this that use AA batteries. But I’m happy to report that I love this thing! It makes filing my baby’s nails so much easier. I don’t have to cut them leaving sharp edges. It’s not loud so it doesn’t scare her. It gets the job done without traumatizing her. I can file her nails smooth quickly and easily while she’s sleeping and be done in a snap. The baby file (pink file) is the only one I use on her and I haven’t had any issues with catching her skin or hurting her. It’s so much safer than using clippers or scissors. This is a great deal. Especially considering it’s much cheaper than the well known brands. Highly recommend!
