Melissa & Doug Shape Sorting Clock – Wooden Educational Toy
$19.99 Original price was: $19.99.$13.39Current price is: $13.39.

Our popular preschool-friendly clock gets a cool update! A larger face, exposed natural wood, and pops of vibrant color on match-able chunky pieces make for a fresh modern look . . . but the classic play value and top-quality construction remains the same. Kids love the color-coded minute and hour hands that spin around with a simple push. (No matter where they point, it’s always time for learning and fun!) Children can match the colors, sort the shapes, and solve the puzzle as they manipulate the color blocks and turn the hands, building cognitive and motor skills and laying the groundwork for learning to tell time. Extension activities printed right on the box encourage parent-and-child play, helping children begin to master early-learning concepts as they gain familiarity with the form of a clock and concepts of time.

Very durable and cute educational toy
I bought this clock in 2013, when my son was 1.5 years (now he is 4). The clock has survived the pass of time incredibly well, as most of my other Melissa & Doug toys I own (like for example Melissa & Doug Wooden Bear Family Dress-Up Puzzle, which we love). The clock is made of quality wood that it is solid and durable, with a very good finishing in both the cut and the paint. The shapes for the numbers are all unique, and it is not possible to misplace them. The Hour/Minute dials can move around so you can ask your child the time. Once you remove the shapes, the “slot” has the same color and the number written on it, so it is very easy to recognize where to put it. This is ok for small kids, but I think it takes away the challenge from older ones. Also, this clock does not really stand upright; it mostly lays in the ground with at a 15 degree angle. I was hoping to put the clock standing when not in use, but if I do this, the shapes are in great danger to fall anytime it gets shaken. It would have been nice to have some magnetos inside the wooden pieces and in the body of the clock, so the pieces would “stick”, but unfortunately this clock does not have them.Even with this one or two flaws, I find this is an amazing educational toy that my son enjoyed mostly from is 2 to 3 years old (after which he slowly abandon it). And after all he played with it, I cannot even find an scratch!Bonus detail: did you realize that 4=square, 5=pentagon, 6=hexagon and 8=octagon? The designers did have the good sense to match these common shapes with the number showing their number of sizes!

Educational Clock
This clock is amazing! It is very educational and it is ideal for my 4 year old granddaughter to learn how to tell time. I highly recommend it. It has the hand for the minutes also.

It’s gonna last until she can tell time!
This is a first time toy to begin teaching time. She plays with the colorful blocks as we tell her what the hands mean. First, the numbers fit like puzzle pieces (for puzzles loving kids) but as she plays she is seeing the hours as they go around a clock. The hands turn easily so we can “point” at the numbers to show how the clocks work to tell us what time it is. It’s really great quality so it’s going to last a long time.

Five Stars
I like this clock so much. I love that it is wooden and very well made. I also like that it is a puzzle with removable shapes as well as a clock. I like that the minute and hour are movable and that the minutes are listed on the clock to help learners understand. I home school a kindergartner and I use this in in my home school classroom pretty regularly. I try to use it every morning that we have “school” and have her do it as part of the morning work. I will ask her what time is it and have your look at at roman numerals clock then match it with this one. It is really helping her to learn to tell time. I also like that it has a double feature and can be given to my 2 year old son when we are done telling the time. He likes to take the shapes apart and put them back or line them up. I can also use this for shape identification and counting. This was a very good buy with lots of possibilities.

Great Value as a Shape-Sorter and Introduction to Other Mathematical Skills
I bought this clock primarily for the shape-sorting aspect it offers. 12 unique shapes to to be fitted into their respective holes on the board. I feel it is a good value for the money in providing my 14 month old a broad range of shapes and colors from which to enhance her spatial skills. As she grows, she will also be able to engage her brain in number sense, and eventually telling time.Again, the skills offered with this product are a strong value for the investment. It’s a great addition to the playroom, classroom, or homeschool room.My only criticism of the Melissa and Doug brand, is that once you get accustomed to the thicker, higher quality of brands like Janod, Hape, Haba, or even the Alex line of wooden toys, you can clearly tell the craftsmanship is not on the same level. This product is much thinner, and not sanded to the same softness as toys by the other brands.Dollar for dollar, with all the skills this particular toy offers I still highly recommend it as a 5-star purchase; but overall, brand for brand, I don’t feel that Melissa and Doug offers toys that will stand the test of time as well as some of the other manufacturers on the market.

Good for learning
You can use this toy to teach shapes, colors, numbers, and time, so it’s a good educational toy. It is made of wood, which is my favorite thing for a toy to be made from. It has a wedge on the back of it, so it can sit kind of propped up at an angle. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the shapes sit very loosely in the holes, so they fall out easily. I wish I could store it without having to worry about that. I wish they would wedge in there at least a little, but they don’t at all. Also, the pieces are kind of small, so my almost 18 month old daughter can put some of them completely in her mouth and shut her mouth around them, which is kind of scary. I don’t let her play with this unsupervised. They’re not small enough to choke on easily, but they’re small enough to make me uncomfortable. This toy is made for ages 3 and up, so I bought it for someone it wasn’t meant for, but I thought I should mention the size in case your three year old and up child has younger siblings around. Overall, it’s a good toy and great for educating.

This such a cute clock. Our daughter loves playing with it. She’s narrates her numbers, colors, and shapes with it! I love that it had so many elements. It was a great gift for he’d!

This has helped our 3 year old tell time. Helps with keeping a daily routine and avoids tantrums while transitioning to different tasks throughout the day. Lots to learn with shapes, colors, numbers, and counting. Very well built.

英語教育に熱心な妹の子供の誕生日プレゼントに買いました。数字の部分はパズル?のようになります。状態が悪いものがあるかも、とのことで、一旦自宅に届けてもらいましたが問題なかったです。とてもよい買い物でした。
